In 2011, Dr. Maria Loukas traveled to the Dominican Republic to provide dental services to the children of a nearby school and orphanage in the slums of the Dominican Republic. The trip was a week long and focused on hygiene and prevention.
This dental mission team consisted of a few doctors, hygienists, and assistants to teach the children how to take care of their oral health better.
Dr. Maria mostly performed cleanings, sealants, and extractions for the children. Many of them did not have the proper knowledge of how to keep their teeth clean, they were grateful the team showed them proper techniques and a more efficient ways of taking care of their oral hygiene.
Children waited patiently outside of the clinic to be seen.
After the week, Dr. Maria went to the orphanage to visit the children that had came to see her.
