Park Ridge October Event: Spirits of Old Park Ridge Tour

Fall is an exciting time of year. The leaves are changing and there is a bite in the air. Halloween is coming up, and the holidays are right around the corner. If you’re looking for something cool to do, your Park Ridge dentists, Drs. Maria and Thanasi Loukas suggest taking the Spirits of Old Park Ridge tour of the Town of Maine cemetery.

What: Spirits of Old Park Ridge Town of Maine Cemetery Tour

Where: Town of Maine Cemetery, Dee Road and Touhy Avenue, Park Ridge IL, 60068

When: Saturday October 4^th 2014

Time: 10am to 2pm

Cost: $5 donation requested for adults

About

Join local actors as they portray the men and women who helped shape Park Ridge. They will share the stories of various men and women and their contributions to Park Ridge history by bringing their spirits to life. Learn about soldiers, early settlers, mayors, business men, teachers, and even a professional baseball player. Tour guides will accompany groups to gravesites and share additional history and other interesting anecdotes about some of the residents now laid to rest in this historical cemetery. The following have been added to this year’s roster:

• Charles Sherwin: Civil War Soldier
• Alexander Harley: First Maine High School Music Director
• Minnie Haseman: Caretaker for the family of George Carpenter
• Robert Hale: Professional Baseball Player

Community members of all ages are welcome. Tours leave every 15 to 30 minutes from the cemetery gatehouse located inside the main entrance off of Touhy Avenue (just east of Dee Road). Parking is available along Rose Avenue (to the east), or along the cemetery lanes.
